Custom Made Woodblock Type Chocolates and Specialty Packaging
Challenge: I wanted to create a unique gift for clients and prospects that highlights my studio's capabilities and the unique design resources that are accessible to me.
Outcome: I chose Valentine's Day because it is outside of the main holiday crunch.
Through my dinosaur sculpting side hustle, I knew custom food-grade silicone molds could be made for chocolates. I used wood block type I have collected over the years to spell the word LOVE and make the molds. Then I had the letters cast and decorated with edible gold leaf in chocolate by a local organic chocolatier, Jardi Chocolates
The chocolates were packed in a custom letterpress and foil-stamped box and then sealed with a wax seal. Next, they were packed in a shipping box with food-grade cooling packs to avoid melting while in transit.
HTML emails were sent to clients to alert them to watch the mail for the package to avoid any other possible damage to the chocolates.
The campaign resulted in a tiny branding project and an extensive product development and packaging project for a creative software company. Unfortunately, this was a few months before the pandemic, and the projects were put on indefinite hold.
