Print & Digital Matchbook Cover Matching Game
Challenge: I have at least 10,000 pieces of cataloged real-world and digital ephemera, along with a collection of personal art never used for client projects. How could I share this with friends, clients, and prospects as more of a gift than a promotional item. At the same time it need to demonstrate my capabilities as a designer to prospective clients.
Outcome: The result was a game based on the classic "Memory" card matching game. But to make it more fun, memorable, and mature I used about 100 of my vintage matchbook covers from the ephemera collection I have cataloged for the art to match.
It was packaged in a letterpress printed custom slipcase box I designed. The cards were printed by superior-quality digital printer specializing in printing on beautiful card stocks.
Finally to show my digital capabilities and how I am able to bring an extremely high level of craft to both traditional and digital design in a single project, I modified code and reskinned an online game that reflected the same aesthetic but on a digital platform.
The project was was mailed to 100 recipients and also included a supporting HTML email campaign.
The final outcome was 2 new packaging projects and one event marketing project.
